1、 According to the different ways of laser output energy, laser welding machines can be divided into: pulse laser welding and continuous laser welding

Pulse laser welding: it is mainly used for spot welding and seam welding of thin metal materials. Its welding process belongs to heat conduction type, that is, laser radiation heats the surface of the workpiece, guides the internal diffusion of the material through heat transfer, and controls the waveform, width, peak power, repetition frequency and other parameters of the laser pulse, so as to form a good connection between the workpieces. The biggest advantage of pulse laser welding is that the overall temperature rise of the workpiece is very small, the thermal influence range is small, and the workpiece deformation is small.

Continuous laser welding: it mainly uses fiber laser or semiconductor laser to continuously heat the surface of the workpiece for welding.

2、 According to the different spot power density after laser focusing, it can be divided into: heat conduction laser welding and deep penetration welding

Heat conduction laser welding: laser radiation heats the surface of the workpiece, and the heat on the surface diffuses inside the material through heat transfer. By controlling the waveform, width, peak power, repetition frequency and other parameters of the laser pulse, the workpiece melts and forms a specific molten pool.

Laser deep penetration welding: generally, continuous laser beam is used to complete the connection of materials. Its metallurgical physical process is very similar to electron beam welding, and the energy conversion mechanism is completed through small holes. Under the irradiation of high-power density laser, the material evaporates to form a small hole. This small hole full of steam is like a blackbody, which absorbs almost all the incident light energy, and the heat is transferred from the outer wall of the high-temperature hole cavity, melting the metal surrounding the hole cavity. The continuous evaporation of the wall material under the light beam produces high-temperature steam. The surface tension of the wall layer formed by the liquid flow outside the hole wall is in stalemate with the continuous steam pressure in the hole cavity and maintains a dynamic balance.
