CO2 laser cutting machines use CO2 laser technology to cut various metallic and non-metallic materials using a focused laser beam.
CO2 laser cutting machines use electrically powered gas lasers to cut any material. A focusing lens is used to direct a CO2 laser beam at a material for cutting, engraving, or even marking. The compressed gas also blows away any molten material from the surface of the material.
This is made possible by using either nitrogen or oxygen in the entire process. But there is a significant difference between them: oxygen burns the material, and nitrogen melts through it.
Oxygen is best suited for cutting thicker materials, but be careful as it tends to create oxide layers on the surface. On the other hand, nitrogen leaves the surface of the material slightly dull and rough at the edges.
